Day 1: Let's Do This!

Hi everybody, welcome to Day 1 of the extra-fabulous, super-yummy, totally-tantalizing 14-day Juice Cleanse Challenge! 

To get us off to a great start on our very first day, I prepared three different types of juice. It's always a good idea to have a few options on hand so you are sure to get a full range of fruits and vegetables throughout the day.

Today I will share the three recipes we created today, with many more coming throughout this challenge. Over the next two weeks, as you discover your favourite juices, feel free to tailor your daily recipes accordingly. The most important thing to remember is to have fun and try everything at least once! 

Juice #1: Watermelon

Ingredients: 

  • Watermelon! 
  • Fresh mint or basil (optional)

For our first juice of the challenge I decided to start off with something sweet and simple: 100% watermelon juice. Perfect for the hot summer temperatures, this one's a no brainer. Grab a watermelon, chop it up, and juice away!

When you're chopping, try to leave as much of the white part of the watermelon in tact as possible. This is where are the nutrients are! If you purchased an organic watermelon, you can juice the whole thing, skin and all. It may darken the colour of your juice slightly, but it won't drastically affect the taste. 

For a special twist, try infusing your watermelon juice with fresh herbs such as mint or basil. 

Juice #2: Pineapple Carrot

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 pineapple
  • 6-9 carrots

Juice #3: Green Apple Lemonade

Ingredients:

  • 1 cucumber
  • Juice of 2 lemons or limes
  • 3-4 granny smith apples
  • 3 celery stalks

Be sure to wash all of your produce thoroughly before starting. Once you're ready, simply juice 'em all up and feel yourself smile from the inside out!
