Day 4: Strawberry Blush Juice

It's Day 4 of the super-duper extra juicy Juice Cleanse Challenge! Welcome everyone!

Lately the weather in Los Angeles has been extremely HOT, with daily temperatures reaching as high as 107 F. That's cook an egg on the pavement hot. But since I don't cook my food, or eat eggs, it has been more like bring your juice to the beach and lie in the ocean all day hot. So that's what I did.

With my sun hat and favourite book in tow, I set out towards the coast, cruising with the top down through the stunning SoCal scenery (just kidding...I drive a very old Toyota. But a girl can dream). As soon as I felt the first salt-air breeze I let out a sigh of happiness. I was back. There are only a few things in the world that make me feel as blissful as a beautiful beach. The waves, the stunning blue water, the sound of gulls and the feeling of warm sand between my toes... It's magical. 

This juice is also pretty magical.  

It's sweet, it's tart, it's bursting with flavour, it's a beautiful colour AND it's high in important vitamins and nutrients, including iron and protein. So how do you like them apples? Or rather, strawberries? (Enough corny jokes for one day, I'm sorry). 

Strawberry Blush Juice

Ingredients: 

  • Strawberries
  • Oranges  

The ratio between strawberries and oranges is completely up to you. There is really no way to mess up these ingredients. My most recent batch was very berry heavy because the local produce market was having a sale. Try something like 2 pints of berries to 4-5 oranges.  

TIP: Start by juicing the strawberries first. The pulp you get from the berries is absolutely delicious so don't throw it away! Simply toss it into a ziplock freezer bag or a Tupperware container and toss it into the freezer for future use. Strawberry sherbet, anyone? Why yes, don't mind if I do.
