Hi everyone! Welcome to Day 11 of the 14-Day Juice Cleanse Challenge. I am happy to say that I have finally hit my stride with this cleanse!
The beginning of the second week was particularly difficult for me to stay motivated. I found that my energy was lower than normal and my general attitude toward cleansing had taken a downward turn. The smell of food at every corner was tempting and there were numerous moments when I found myself silently debating "to stray, or not to stray?"
As tempting as it was, I kept telling myself that I had come this far and it wasn't worth throwing it all away. I was determined not to give up! I started looking closely at my daily patterns to try to pinpoint what I was doing that was potentially making things harder for myself. I realized fairly quickly that I hadn't been getting very much sleep at night. My work is demanding and keeps me up late into the night, and I had been trying to survive on only 4-5 hours of sleep a night. It wasn't working.
Getting enough rest while you're cleansing (or really, getting enough in general) is an extremely important part of living a balanced, healthy life. It's so easy to get caught up in our busy schedules, our work, and our social lives and to let sleep take the back-burner. I'll admit, it's not always easy to clock 8 solid hours of sleep every night, but boy, does it ever make a difference when you do.
The past couple of nights I have done everything possible to protect my sleep time and the differences in my overall mood and energy levels are incredible. I'm back to feeling motivated and unstoppable! All because of a good dose of zzzzzzzzz's.

Superhero Boost! (a.k.a. the Ultimate Liver Cleanse Juice)
- 4 Large Fuji Apples
- 1/2 Fennel bulb (with stalks!)
- 2 Celery stalks
- 1-2" piece of ginger root
- 1-2" piece of fresh turmeric root
- 2 Lemons
